Hello, I joined today to see if anyone can advise on this recent intermittent problem!

We have a Defender 110 TD5 and occasionally when starting it, the ABS unit makes a horrible noise, the brakes feel odd (no power perhaps) and the noise changes slightly when the pedal is pressed. It can't really be driven at this point. The noise continues when removing the ignition key and we have to disconnect the battery to make it stop. Fiddled around removing and replacing the electrical connectors and fuses, but nothing seems to fix it. It seems that if we wait long enough, it either fixes itself, or one of our random disconnects has had an effect.

Sometimes we start the engine in a hurry and forget to wait for the TC light to go out. This is a possible trigger, but it doesn't happen every time

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks
Claire
