loss of power

Driving home after a 200 mile motorway journey, my 1993 defender 90 tdi suddenly lost power after full revs were required. after a period of slower driving the problem seemed to rectify although it reoccured later. Is there a speed/rev limiter or should I worry?!

Yea, there is a rev limiter which comes in at 4000 rpm. It's rather like hitting a brick wall. Normally you can only get to it in 2nd or 3rd.

Otherwise it could be the fuel filter as said above, or a stuffed lift pump.

Yeah I run my Land Rover 90 on veg oil, and frequently find that loss of performance is down to 2 things:

1. Fuel filter

2. Air in the fuel lines
