:) Hello there! I have just joined, recently bought a nice Freelander TD4, blue , as it appears on this page...I have loss of power at 80kms on a hill and at 120 kms over flat roads...with our mechanic we have tried many things, yet, despite the Yellow check engine light coming on at those times, there are no error codes after the scan...there are though, two hoses that i need help from anyone at this forum to figure out:
one is a hard one, hook like, that I know now fits a simple filter, which I have, yet, there is one soft hose, running parallel to the one mentioned, that is not connected, and I don´t know where it connects to..I attach a couple of images...
anyone has any clue as to where this goes?? many thanks in advance!

jc from Chile, in Chile!

post header reads FL2

pics look like the td4/m47r engine from a FL1
( i've no idea what the fl2 td4 version looks like )

maybe confirm what engine that is
( i note your from Chile .. so the FL might have a different name there )

anyhow .. IF it's the bmw m47r engine ..
then the mystery hose Might be part of the engine coolant circuit

see attached pic .. taken from page 30 .. on :
http://www.rover-club.net/graphics/manuals/16/m47r_diesel.pdf

i'll check that when i'm out today ( if it aint pouring with rain :)

and regarding the loss of power ..
check the intercooler to intake manifold hoses for splits/holes ..
If it's the bmw engine .. check behind the top left intercooler hose
where it rubs against a mounting screw ..
( be One common cause for loss of power .. although there be other things to check )

scratch the coolant hose idea ..

just looked at mine ..
has a small hose running alongside that breather pipe ..
'n it connects to a cylindrical thing at the back of the engine
which has two other hoses attached .. one that looks as if it might be electrical ..

i suspect that small hose Might be a vacuum hose ..
( not 100% sure though )

if the vaccum hose that operates the turbo vanes is leaking
then the t.vanes won't work properly ..
( something else to check on your engine )

regarding ..

it connects to a cylindrical thing at the back of the engine

see pic attached to post '1' :
http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/td4-lack-power-70mph-fixed-77147.html

hose your on about is number '3' in that pic ..
the other end probably connects to the vacuum rezevoir on other side of the engine .. right side .. when standing in front

( edit 23:39 gmt st )

just re-read the o.p. :

one is a hard one, hook like, that I know now fits a simple filter,
the hard one .. hook like .. is the IRD breather pipe ..
the filter needs to go on the turbo solenoid vacuum hose .. that runs parallel to the IRD breather pipe

if no filter has been fitted .. chance is that dirt has got into the system ..
and that will have a negative effect on turbo operation ..
the dirt might seize up the turbo vacuum solenoid

Dear Freelander Forum members!
Thank You so much for the link,(yes, it is an M47 Diesel engine) images and responses! Today with the mechanic we shall apply and search for this fault....by the way, we did discover the hose usage, which is, as said by You, attached to an air filter! How ever, the loss of power is still on, Friday we tried disconnecting the pipes as posted, to no positive results, it´s not the solenoid...still looking, hoping for a new scan today! Thanks in advance, I will keep You posted!! Regards from Chile! Juan Carter
