I've had a problem with my passenger side steering arm coming loose. Is this a common problem. I've nipped up the pins and got lock tabs on there but they've either stretched or the thread's gone.

I can't remember how they fit together but are they tapped into the swivel housing?

Yes, studs into the bottom of the swivel housing. Try a bit of loctite on the studs and torque the nuts up to 50 - 65 ftlb. The book recommends new studs are used and the pin should located into the bearing with loctite too.

Dom, of the 4 studs there are 2 different types. 1 pair are slightly longer. Did you work out which go where? The book and parts manual aren't very clear!?

No bother, go there in the end but thanks for the response.

For anyone searching in the future, I discovered it's not the length of the different studs that's most important, it's the thickness. One type is a 'special' stud which is fatter. Apparently you can use 1, 2, 3, 4 or no special studs but they help prevent the pin from sliding across the face of the outer swivel housing. I fitted 2 special studs on the diagonal, using a bit of hylomar to stop oil seaping down the threads on all studs.
