Loose speedo needle?

Hi again, been looking into what was wrong with my speedo today. Took the cable out of the transmission end and turned it in a drill, nothing happened. Removed the dashboard panel and pulled the cable out of the back of the clock, everything looked fine to me.
Then on closer inspection of the clock itself realised that the actual needle doesn't look like it's fixed into its dial properly (if you get what I mean). It's not exactly hanging off but it definitely looks like it's come loose from it's proper position, so I'm thinking the cable is actually fine but it just can't get a grip on the needle.
Just wondering if anyone knows the best was to access it. Any way of getting the glass cover off? Or is it a question of doing it from the inside?

Doesn't the glass unscrew sort of. Took my series 3 speedo apart and you can see gaps in the rim where you turn the glass till it pops off

You can then get into the speedo and really start to see the mechanics of it.... Failing this another speedo is about £20 off eBay

Thanks again, got the cover off like you said, unfortunately the needle won't go back in. Found a 2nd hand one on ebay for £25 though, which is lucky because it looks like new ones are at least £100!
