Friend of mine is looking to buy a Freelander and I know very little about them so looking for some advice.

Shes got £1500 max to spend wants a manual drop top.

What are the big things to look out for when looking? What to avoid?

What to look out for in the future?

I have a 2004 gold freelander se/hb 1.8 petrol removable top, see my post re high idling which no one seems to know anything about.
I bought it a year and a half ago, its in great condition save that the engine imploded on boxing day I've had a replacement fitted (which runs sweet as a nut) together with a new clutch and MOT. the only problem is it keeps idling at 2500 rpm instead of 1000 and I can't work out why. She cost me £2,500 plus £1,200 for replacement engine new clutch, wipers and MOT, but make me an offer I can't refuse and she's yours I can send/post photos if you like
