I am proud to say that I've saved enough money to get myself a Freelander TD4. Now, I have some pretty old tires on it, and I'd really like to get some new ones. I don't have a lot of money to spend on them though, I hope that's not a very big issue. I'll be using them to drive around town basically, that's all I'm doing with my car. I just want them to be as quiet as possible and last for a decent amount of time. My mechanic friend guided me to this website called holmes Tire, but I don't find it particularly useful, to be honest. Could you guys give me any pointers? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
P.S.: I don't mind if the tires are second hand either! I just don't want them to be in a bad shape.

Try and find a tyre you want then look on the Asda Tyre website. They have a big range from budget to top brands. Prices are good and they deliver to a garage near you (I used local Halfords). I've just had a set of 4 on my x-type, mid-range decent tyres including balancing and alignment for £250. Personally I never buy second/part worn tyres - there's often a reason they weren't wanted. Whatever you do especially if second hand route, or if you can only afford 2 at a time, put the newest ones on the back and ensure they are matched size/make etc - this will save your VCU if it's still fitted.

What size tyres do you want, if you want them to last for a long time you could consider getting van tyres there'll last ages but are expensive. How cold icey does it get near you, in winter all terrains are better than road tyres but tarmac tyres are better in summer.

I put continental 4x4 contact tyres on the misses just due to there the only ones the tyre place had in stock. But they have lasted well.

I've got GT Radial MaxMiler 195R15 van tyres on my Freelander - I got them because they were cheap - £75/corner rather than £125 for a 'quality' brand. I've had them on 4 years and last time I checked the tread, I was on to get about 80,000kms (50k miles) out of them.

They have been quiet with decent grip - although they are getting a bit noisey on some surfaces now - either than or my diff is on the way out.

The thing with van tyres though is that they are designed to be pumped to high pressures - mine are rated at 40psi. It does make for a firm/harsh ride, especially on gravel roads.

I'd recommend them for someone wanting to save a few bucks.

I'm looking for 17 inch tyres. Although I think I could also use 15/16, I've always been a fan of bigger sizes. Thanks!

I'm pretty tight on the money actually, so I'd love to save every penny I can. 80k kms sounds like a lot though. Thank you for the suggestion, hopefully I'll find the tyres in Romania. Hopefully they won't be too noisy, though. Eh, you can't have it all, especially when you don't have a lot of money to spend.

If you are only driving on roads. Then any M/S rated tyre will keep you mobile. I use Tyre Leader these days for all my tyre requirements.
These are getting good reviews at the moment. https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/sailun/terramax-cvr/225-60-r17-99h-98236
