Long list of jobs almost done - does anyone know where to get all-terrain 255/85s?

I bought my Defender a couple of months ago and have been working my way through a longish list of jobs. So far I've changed all lubricants except the transfer box.

I even managed to get into the swivel housings earlier this evening. I have a TD5 so no drain plug. Using a oils hand pump I sucked out what little grease there was and topped them back up. New plugs required as those fitted are absolutely knacked. One I removed using a pair of 10" stilsons, the other I managed to bang a 3/8 bar into. Plan B was a cold chisel and big hammer to drift it off.

Apart from oil changes, which seen infinitely more fiddly than the 200TDi Discovery I used to have, I've got the windscreen wipers working and replaced dash bulbs. The garage I bought it from were bloody useless!

I have also fitted a Mantec snorkel, Safari Equip spare wheel carrier, extended breather pipes and fitted a secure box in the pick-up. Oh and I got shut of Ifor Williams shed that made me want to buy a collie and carry a bale of hay with me everywhere.

Next job are some new Discovery steel rims and larger diameter tyres. Does anyone know where I can get hold of all-terrain 255/85s?

Looking nice. I've spent the last two years working my way through a TD5 replacing all manner of screws, washers, clips and bits of wire, as well as things like suspension bushes, bolts and brake components, so I know what it's like. Do they definitely have to be 255 x 85 ATs? The standard suspension setup is perfectly happy with 265 x 75s and they're a bit easier to find. As are 255 x 70s.

I wanted the height from 255/85s and the better gear ratio but the selection in the UK is limited. I also wanted to keep the width down for grip in the snow. My fall-back are 235/85s.

The difference in height between 235/85 and 255/85 is around 1.5". 265/75s are a similar height to the 235s. I know I'm being a bit fussy but the outlay is considerable and the tyres will be on for a while.

The vehicle has had some work done on it in the past so the condition is patchy though generally good. It didn't help that the garage left the vent flap on the drivers side open until it stuck which caused a few electrical issues due to water ingress. Dismantling the dash allowed me to give it a good clean and replace the rusty black screws.

I also want to Dynax S50 the chassis but will be rubbing it down and painting the rusty bits first.

Now I almost have it where I want it I fancied getting another Discovery. A reasonably clean 200TDi would be right up my street.

Looking really smart :)
Number of good tyre places online not sure they will all have that size though, maybe camskill or similar may have them

I could only find one make of all terrains and the reviews did not impress.

As the for Landrover; I think I need new rear pinion bearing or something as it began to make a grinding noise. We took the bus home and I am back in the morning to have a quick look before telling the garage that sold me it to fix it under warranty.
