Land Rover recommend an "injector service" for the TD5 at 100,000 miles.

l assume this means reconditioned injectors.

l was wondering, is this worth doing. Has anybody done it, and was there an improvement.

My 130,000 mile Defender TD5 starts and performs fine, but fuel economy isn't as good as it was and there's some white smoke on the over run particularly when cold.

This is definitely worth doing. Sent my injectors to Diesel Bob for a proper rebuild and balance, they came back better than new. Similarly with the uprated RV8 Bosch injectors, balanced by Mark at Tornado Systems...they give incredible performance with identical wide spread spray pattern.

Does the ECU need re coding for the injectors when you refit them.

lf so, how is this done, at a LR specialist?

My limited understanding suggests the original codes will still apply. As long as the injectors go back in the cylinders they came from all should be well.
The reconditioning I had done on my Volvo injectors involved ultrasonic cleaning and back flushing to get out any crud that was too big to come out in the usual direction. Also new seals.

We're they TD5 injectors? They seem to be hard to get re conditioned .
