Had my Td5 for about a month now. Just had front wheel bearing done (MOT advisory) plus A frame bushes (hopefully to cure knocking sound when changing gear - not got car back yet so I suspect it has softened the knocking rather than fully cured it and expecting half shafts to need doing too) .
I had these done at a local LR specialist and asked them to give me a heads up on any other issues they spotted. Good news is nothing else of note and they reported it to to be very solid underneath - they even said don't bother doing the track rod end (another MOT advisory) as there was hardly any play.

My plan is to keep the car a few years so i want to to lightly renovate over this year. I have not done much like this in the past so will tackle easier jobs myself and send to garage for anything more troublesome (unless i get confident).
Have new socket set, Haynes manual and youtube - how hard can it be !
Ordered full service kit plus all new oils for engine, gearbox, transfer box and diffs and plan to do this over the next 2-3 weekends plus a cooling system flush.

I would appreciate any thoughts / guidance on a list of things to look at / replace over the year (using standard parts in the main).
Car is 16 yrs old and mileage is quite high at 180k but its been pretty well looked after .

My current list (assuming these parts are largely still original on the car so probably well worn by now):
replace all shocks and springs
Replace all suspension bushes
Replace all brake hoses (and check brake pads / disks)
Replace all engine flexible hoses
track rod ends

is there anything to consider on engine / gearbox etc due to the high mileage (garage didnt mention anything)

all thoughts / ideas much appreciated.

Change all oils and lubricate/grease every other moving part, including all UJ's + change swivel joint grease with one shot. Change coolant and give system a thorough reverse flush with heater fully open + it's really worth taking a close look at the electrical wiring to make sure it's not going to turn itself into a three bar electric heater;)

Change all fluids, but dont replace anything mechanical unless it is either worn out or close to the end of its life.

Iirc td5 oil spinner filter needs a special spanner?

search for lt230 spline wear
