Right, its a clear liquid with a glossy sheen to it but it doesn't smell.

Its not air conditioning refridgerant oil as we have dye tested the air con system. No leaks.

My air con is also not working. Heating is fine Cooling is a no no.

Help

if yer ac dunt work then it unlikey to be the source of yer liquid specially if it dunt got no leaks. does the ac clutch kick in when you switch it on?
check by looking at the center of the pump to see if its turning. if its not most likey cause is low charge in yer system

usually clear liquid down there comes from blocked evaporator drains, but if yer ac int working it would have to defy the laws of physics to do so. you int got a leaky bit at yer heater/ fresh air intake ? try pouring some water into the vents in front of yer windscreen and see if thats the cause... not to much mind.

So whats the liquid then???

Where's it coming from???

Common problem - if you have RHD drive P38 and the liquid is in the drivers side footwell then its most likely leaking o-rings. two o-rings are used on the connection of the heater matrix to the coolant pipes. the rings perish and start allowing coolant from the engine past them. I would guess at that being your problem. You can check by removing the right side console piece and snaking your hand up behind the centre console and feeling the connection - if its all wet and slimy, thats the problem.

its a bit of a pig to do but easy enough if you have patience...

this was also a common fault with montegos (remember them) full dash out to get to the thing then 20mins repairing then a full day putting it back to gether

Would this have been caused when I had my engine replaced last month???

Possibly. once they have gone a bit hard the slightest bit of movement will make em seep.
But it should be quite easy to tell if its the o rings.
Like Wills ses, you should be able to shove yer hand up towards the pipework. If you are quite bendy ( dont be offended) you can shine a torch up there and see.
Also whatever is in the cooling system will have a strange wiff to it.
As amatter of interest, was yer engine replaced at main dealer, inde, or other ?

The option regarding refit is other:eek:

Hi.
I'm in Dudley if you want some else who has had to replace those o rings to look at it just to see if it is coolant, for free of course. Can you still drive it, bring it round and i'll have a look.

Cheers, Nick.

i'd check you have coolant and not just water in there if its clear as you say.

Ye see the thing about my coolant is its blue and me carpets is blue too:)

I got someone to test it for me and he says its tastes just like south african chardonnay so I guess its coolant:(

WILLS. Who is that masked man? I cannot thank you enough for this informative advice and the amazing link. I've actually got at these perishers after the type of creativity mentioned in the text with a little added of my own. Range rover say 9hours for this job whether it's the rings or the matrix. 9x£90=£881+vat plus two bob for the rings. Is that a westminster you've got there? Thanks again. best regards P.S...........I'm editing this post as I pressed the wrong handles and, after seeing your profile, I thought I'd better put 9x£90=£810. I think you're lying about your age, as well. P.S
