If I leave my Landy unstarted for a week or so, or leave it parked uphill for a few hours, she struggles to restart. Turns over fine, but fuel is definitely struggling to get through. Engine runs absolutely fine otherwise and restarts on a daily basis on the button.
Does this sound like lift pump failure?
Disco 200

As in you have to crank it over a while before it starts when sat for a while? But fine if restarted shortly after? If so sounds like air in the system - could’ve the pump more commonly the fuel run off pipes between injectors

Yes, but only when parked uphill, or left for a long period. It was the uphill bit that made me think lift pump. Spill off pipes look in good condition.

That’ll be air from somewhere. Check run off pipes, all other fuel lines and lift pump in that order.

Dont forget it may still have the silly filter/sedimentor widget above the rear axle drivers side iIRC?

Fuel filter’s good enough for me, I change it every 6 months to be sure.

OK, fair enough, I used up both of my spare filters on a road trip through Slovakia in my Disco and wound up having to buy some more spares because of dirty fuel.

Still consider the electric lift pump though as it can be used to help prime the fuel system after a filter change too.

I don’t drive to Slovakia too often, so hopefully I’ll be ok :D
I’ll have a look at the electric system as an alternative, I prefer to keep things simple, like me!

The Facet pumps are quite good and the copy ones very cheap.
I fitted one on my 90 and did away with the mechanical lift pump a couple of years ago.

I never understood the sedimentor on the Disco 200 and I dont think the defenders had them and they must be more likely to get crap fuel?

Look at the bleed off pipes for clean stains where they may have leaked. Don’t like the cotton coated ones as you can’t see any cracks clearly
Leccy pump for easy bleeding ;)
If you have glow plugs connected warm up on them then crank. Sometimes you will catch & draw the fuel through(if it’s only gone back to the ip pump)
