the short answer, yes, there are tons of variables involved, a suspension lift
will change driveline angles which will increase stress, larger tires will put
more stress on the axles, as well as other things such as steering components,
anyways, do some research about lifting trucks, theres quite a bit to learn if
you want it done right, and one big important thing is getting a properly
equipped truck to begin with, starting with axle gear ratio is critical for
example, a lot of trucks out there are geared more for passenger use and have a
gear ratio that is friendly for driving and light duty work and better gas
mileage but as soon as you put big tires on things will not be good and its
costly to change this after the fact, so do some research, figure out what you
want your truck to be like and what you will use it for, then shop for a truck
and work from there, i purposely bought a ram 2500 v-10 with 4:10 gears, a
limited slip, and it comes with a dana 80 rear and a dana 60 front axle, as
well as the 5 spd manual tranny with the 5:61 1st gear, thats about as heavy
duty as it gets, its a great base to work from, but i use mine in a lot of
heavy duty situations.
