Wanted LHD 4 bolt Pas box wanted.

Just on the offchance someone is scrapping a LHD disco or somthing?

Hi got mine from a crashed lhd defender on Uk eBay was half the price of over here in France.

I've looked on foreign eBay sites, and, like you say, they're just silly money - as in approaching adwest new price.

Maybe I should add a search term like "breaking LHD landrover" to my daily eBay alert thing, rather than looking specifically for steering boxes.

It's for a project, so I don't need one yesterday, but I'm happy to pay - just not silly money.

Someone once said that the london taxis used the same PAS box, but in reverse (ie a RHD cab uses the box that a LHD landy would)

but...

The partnumbers dont match - 4bolt defender box is QAF500110 in RHD, and QAF500120 (ie 10 becomes 20 at the end) in LHD, but the taxi boxes dont have those numbers, even though they look the same (i think) -

they wont have, part numbers are purely for lr use, boxes have different support attachment at the bottom

look at the bottom of landy box it has a wide flange with 2 holes

ok, right - where the tie bar thing attaches, that (youtube tells me) self centers at the other end?

Ie theres the 4 main bolts through the chassis, and then the other two that attach to the tie bar - youre say that its these two that are different, right?

Other than that, are they likely to be the same - ie work on the same pressure etc.etc.

The reason why im asking this is that using the 4 bolt box is a common mod for the 101 for PAS, but mine is LHD, and LHD landrover boxes are not easy to find.

As its a mod anyway, the fact that the holes in the support flange are slightly different probably wont be of concern.

Can you rotate the drop arm 180' on the taxi box? Or is there a larger spline to stop this?

Are you fitting pas to your 101 as I'm thinking of doing mine so would be interested in your project details...
