The mild steel straight-through (no box) centre exhaust pipe on my 1997 300tdi 110 CSW rotted through so I ordered a stainless steel one from Paddocks (Prod. Code PM958), billed as a 8a-45 100TDI Replacement Pipe.
When it arrived it looked identical but having now taken off the old pipe and offering up the new one it was short. Thinking it was just a case that the back pipe had swung away, with a bit of effort I could just about marry them up but it didn't seem right. With the tape measure out, the new pipe is about 4cm shorter than the old.
Not sure what to do now as the part I ordered is for a 110. Searching around I can't see that there are different lengths of centre pipes for 110s. Would it be OK to force the pipes together but straining the rubbers or do I have a non-standard exhaust so need to replace the whole lot? Any ideas would be appreciated.
