Folks, I am in the immediate market for a LHD diesel discovery or Jeep - it
has to be UK or Europe spec and not have worked too hard.
3 or 5 door, up to £7K

Can collect UK , Eire or Northern France, Belgium

Pl reply direct to [email protected]

Definitely go for the Jeep, I have a Grand Cherokee, 1999, 4.litre and it
does go some and it looks way better than the Discovery.

A matter of opinion on looks. For a start anyone with a Lexus fixation
is hardly in a position to make subjective judgements on design. The
Grand Cherokke looks like **** and although current Disco's have looks
pinched from the Matra Rancho, it's not at all bad looking. It looks
right for an off-roader.

The Grand Cherokee has the usual ****-poor Jeep luggage area, and the
Disco while not exactly a star in this area is better than the GC and
the rear seating arrangement is better too.

And er the 4.0 Grand Cherokee doesn't go, it's a slug. The 5.7V8 is OK
for speed, but handicapped by the crap Jeep ergonomics and interior use
of space.

All of which is irrelevant since the OP clearly specified diesel and the
Jeep diesel version are a seriously bad joke. The Disco has a seriously
good range of diesel engines and the diesel Disco is much, much better
than any diesel Jeep. So much so that buying the Disco (if that is what
the OP wants should be a no-brainer).

A suggestion for finding cheap LHD Discos is to look for vehicles being
disposed of after expeditions. A small flood of LHD diesel Discos
appeared on the market about five yers ago left behind by an American
university after a pan-European search for fossils.
