I want to upgrade my brake lights and replace them with LED lights. Whoever at Land Rover decided to put the brake lights as low as possible is a numpty so it would make sense to upgrade them.

Any suggestions where to find such an upgrade?

Cheers

e bay do the bulbs m8, theres loads on there if you know which bulbs you need;)

Cheers

Do you know whether or not the middle brake light above the spare wheel uses the same type of bulb as the others?

sorry m8, dunno. might be worth whipping it out to check though and put a list of bulbs up for others to use:)

I'd do that but it's too dark atm and I was hoping to order them tonight lol

don't wish to be the harbinger of doom on this one, laughable though it is, it could well be an MOT failure, as the orginal light fittings were not designed for LED lamps, and have different output charactaristics in terms of intensity and direction to the original filament lamps.

there is a thread on here somewhere about swapping the wiring round to the fog lights and tail/brake lights so the tail/brake lights are at higher, but not sure if this is permissable either any more.

I would expect light changes would need permission from your insurance company.

You know with 10mins of a bit of wiring you can swap round your high level fog lights and use them as break lights instead !
Very easy to do :p

Have been through loads of MOT's with LED bulbs, you will be fine :)

Just aftermarket Xenon's they are trying to ban now...

xenons are allready illegal now, but it will be hard to police as so many cars have them as standard now its hard to tell what shouldnt have them.

i had xenon kits on both of my old freebies and never got pulled in the 2 years of using them. :p

Hi, I changed my B/lights & Fog lights (2003 TD4) around so that the brake lights were higher for all to see. That meant that the fog lights, if used, were in the same lens as the tail light. It went through 8 MOT's like that and passed each time. I also changed the reversing lights into indicators, so had 2 indicator lights each side. Makes you rear end stand out so hopfully others don't smack into the back of you.
Have just changed around the B/lights and the Fogs on my 2006 TD4, plus the Indicators with the reversing lights.
As far as police action, well I think they are very reasonable in most respects and provided you don't blind others with your lights, they have enough on their plates as it is.
I did tell my first Insurance company and sent them a photo of what I had done. They were only interested in any change to the performance of the car/engine.
