To give you a sensible answer, leave it in gear. Don't put on the handbrake at all.
If you are wanting to be really 'highway code' then park it facing down with wheels turned into the kerb slightly too.

Or you could park it facing up but then your steering wheels should be turned towards the road. (away from the kerb, the opposite as if facing down).
only if there is a kerb stone for the front wheel to stop against if it rolls. if not, wheels facing the kerb....
Oh feck,,, a never new it wis a fleelander, that changes every thing,,Jest find the biggest hill and park it facing downhill.....then just apply the handbrake....go on holiday or whatever....hopefully yur freelanders gone when you return
