Landy Runaway but i managed to catch it.

Strange thing today. I was driving my Landy 2.5 n/a diesel in low range when after about 200 yd`s she got very smokie, next thing i know the motor has runaway( you know turn off the key it keeps on running ) So into gear and stalled it. Left it 5 minutes restarted no probs.

The only thing is last time i used her in low range i noticed it got very smokie and knocked a bit when reving up.

The engine does not seem to use any oil and has just got through the MOT on emissions. Also when driving normally on road run like a dream.

Any idears

It does sound as tho its breathing oil VAPOUR from the crank case and running on it.
This would cause the problems you are having
