just wondering if someone out there has experienced something similar,
here's whats going on...
i have an 85 bj70, drove down to colorado this summer from vancouver,
had some minor overheating problems a few times where it'd be red
lining, we'd pull over, rev the engine a bit, and then go on without
problem. then after i got back from that trip, i was driving here in
b.c. and it started overheated on the highway, with a lot of coolant
steaming out of the reservoir. took the thermostat out, that worked
for awhile, but overheated again on a hot day going up a long hill.
maybe needed the thermostat in to cool the air?
anyways, in the few weeks after that, it was still acting up a bit,
and so i ended up putting in a new radiator, and since then
everythings been fine except every morning i have to go up a long hill
on the highway to get to work, and the temp guage gets really high for
a few minutes, then always comes back down, and then the temp is fine
for the rest of the day. i go up the hill again a lot of days in teh
afternoon and the guage doesnt even move.

any ideas on why this would be happening? any advice or input is much
appreciated.
cheers,
dan

you have a serious problem somewhere........
take the truck to a shop. Get the cooling system
pressure tested. IS your radiator fan working correctly.
Put a good thermostat back in the truck.

I'm not sure on that truck but is the radiator fan electric or belt
dirven... You need to make sure you are getting enough air across the
radiator at all times.

You can't continue to run a vehicle with severe cooling problems and
not expect to compound the issue with stuff like maybe a head casket
problem, cracked or warped heads... take it a person who works on
those things.
