land rover won't start sometimes

Hi There

I have a land rover but it wont start sometimes its on and off really.

put the key in turn it, all the light come up wait for the fuel light to go off then turn the key and get one click - when its not working

does not try to crank over at all.

when it does work it great.

when its not working it can take 5-20min of keep trying and then it goes to the crank and starts perfectly.

any ideas, would be the same answer for all cars really.

also when you turn the key so the lights come on there is a noise like a pump or something.

click but no crank is common and usually a starter solenoid fault.
