I have a friend who has recently fitted a PTO to his land rover at the
back. His intention was to drive a wood chipper unit that he has. He
lives in Holland.
He says that he has now found that the PTO rotates in the opposite
direction to that required by the chipper( made in Europe).
The trick now is to reverse the direction of rotation to suit. Ideas
are floated about using spare differentials etc, although continous
rotation at 500 rpm may be unwise even for a land rover diff. Any
suggestions?
The wider question is, however, do agricultural accessories in Europe
rotate the opposite way to the UK? Is there a reversing gear
available? Or is he missing something?
