Evening all,
Just joined the forum but had plenty of land-rover old and new - series 3 diesel swb, hard top and pickup, 3 defenders, disco commercial, 2 discos, forward control and now a lightweight for last 6 years. Seems like I must be a masochist . Lightweight is a 12v (1979) in more or less original condition. If I do upgrade (put halogen headlights in so I can see where I am going) I keep the originals.
So on that last note I'm thinking of upgrading to parabolics before all my teeth fall out and my kids go on strike. Any feedback, positive or negative, appreciated.
Many thanks

I appreciate that. But is it an improved ride compared to the really stiff springs that are standard? I don't carry a lot of weight. Tbh, I'm ok with them most of the time. But on really rough roads they can be a little uncomfortable

Parabolic springs are a better ride. But not like a modern car, it is still obviously a leaf sprung vehicle.
Quite adequate to the rest of the Series experience, though.

Hi and welcome!

It might be worth checking the springs aren’t diesel springs (11 leaf if I remember rightly). These give a much firmer ride. Otherwise, it might be worth stripping the springs down and greasing in between the leaves.
