Hi all!
My name is david, i have a problem with my Land Rover, with all that troubles of pandemic we couldnt access to our vehicle and it went out of battery now, we only have the remote control for open the car so i would like to know if there is any way to open the car hood from outside so i can put the tweezers on the battery.

Thanks

What about using the key to unlock the door, instead of using the remote controller? So many people have ended up using remote controllers to unlock the doors to a point it had ended up as a habit for most people to have not thought about using the key.

Hi Major Eazy, thanks for reply, but sadly we bought this car from 2nd hand and we only have remote control, we tried everything to open the car from inside like making some space through the window and grab the door opener from inside but is useless. So thats why i want to know if there is any way to open the car hood from outside.
Thanks.

you need a long either hook or a screw driver get a flash light and look at the part that stops the hood from opening you will see a spring try to pull the spring to the right and off the retainer then you should easy press it to make it let go , failing all that if it is a freelander 1 I can tell you how to get in without breaking out a window.

Have you checked the emergency key is missing from both remotes? Do you have holes in both remotes where the keys should be?

If so, buying a car with out the keys as a silly thing to do, and not getting replacements quickly is even more silly, as there's no way to release the doors or bonnet from the outside without the emergency key, it's part of the vehicle's security system.

Oh? You mean you got a Freelander 2 with a keyless Star/Stop button or something like that?

The early FL2 has a semi-keyless system, where the actual remote fob is docked in to a slot on the dash. The fob is taken in much like a CD is pulled in to a player. Once the fob is in, the steering lock is disengaged, and the Start/Stop button can be pressed to either turn on the ignition, or start the engine, if the clutch is depressed.

There is actually a proper emergency key, which is docked in a special holder in the fob. This can be removed from inside the fob, and used to pry off the removable cap on passenger door handle, under which is a key hole. This will allow the passenger door to be unlocked with a flat battery, so the bonnet pull on the passenger A post can be accessed.

Because its never used, I wonder how many times its all bunged/rusted up and can't be opened anyway.

I had that issue with my D3. The lock mechanism was rusted up, presumably from lack of use. I never was able to get it to operate, so had to make sure the battery never went flat.

My current FL2 mechanical key works just fine, which is handy as the battery isn't in it at the moment.
