Driving home from the beach last Sunday and next thing my 110 300tdi started to lose power and came to a halt . It was as if it had run out of diesel but I had half a tankful . Got towed home and this what I've found so far . No diesel to injector pipes , lift pump works and diesel comes to filter and injection pump is full . It will squirt out the spout the leak back hose goes on to if you crank the engine . The shut off solenoid has live and can be heard to click if you flick the removed spade connector against it , but not when the wire is attached and you just switch on the ignition . Removing the plunger and spring from the solenoid makes no difference . Where the solenoid fits is full of diesel . The rockers move normally when engine is cranked . Any tips or advice gratefully received .

I dont know the technical details, but the internal pressure of the pump is maintained by a tiny hole in the banjo bolt on the rear of the IP - this is the same bolt that holds on the V pipe that connects to the leak offs, and the return to the tank.

If you take out the bolt from the banjo fitting, its not a normal bolt - tiny pin hole.

This could, i guess, get blocked, which would upset the IP. I dont know what the symptoms would be, but, as you've already checked all the other easy stuff, then id suggest checking this one too.

Beyond that, id be swapping the pump. If the drive is spinning, and its not pumping, then i guess its not working....

Scrap all the above - if diesel is comming out that V pipe, like you say, then that hole can not be blocked.
