I have a freelander td4 gs 2001 and im struggling with it. i broke down about 3 months ago and with lockdown not been able to get to garage. ther problem im having is the pipe on the right of the picture is not putting oput fuiel when i try to start the car intill i unplug the pipe the fuel comes out and the car will run when plugged in intill i stop the engine then i have to pop the bonnet and redo it. what could be causing this. sorry for spellin thanks all. its the L shaped pipe i take off.

When was the fuel filter last changed ? also remove the electric connections marked with RED dots in the photo, spray with some contact cleaner only, push on & off a few times, see if it makes any difference, next remove the fuel line marked with the YELLOW dots put it into a plastic bottle get someone to turn the ignition to II without starting the car, and see if the fuel flows without any spluttering, if it does then you have good pressure, if not the suspect the pump, only replace with a good one pierburg new or a good known used one.
The filter pump on top of the fuel filter very rarely go wrong but again try a known good one, i always keep a few of these spare for our meets just in case.
