L322 Rear Tailgate Sticking and reverse lights not working

Hi Folks,

I am new to the forum, I have a 2005 RR L322 and I am trying to get to the bottom of a problem that has just started happening today, basically my tailgate seems dead, the button on the top does nothing, no noise, I am guessing its a power problem, but checked the fuse 16 which is not gone.

I also since the problem started the reverse lights are not working, I am guessing that its a power to the tailgate problem.

Is there a way to open the tailgate manually so that I can check the cabling? Also are there any other switches or fuses that could affect this?

If you climb into the rear of the boot there is a cable with a plastic grab piece attached, this is behind the top tailgate trim piece. Pull the cable and the tailgate will open.

Just noticed that you can open the top tailgate.

If you have power to the top tailgate and not the bottom, suspect the relay which is behind the rh panel.

There are two levers each side of the bottom tailgate on the inside, to open manually; press them both inwards at the same time.

Thanks for the advice, the top of the tailgate is indeed fine.

I was wondering if there is a relay that would sort me, just not sure since it doesnt mention anything in the manual.

I was given a replacement for relay 6, but it seems not to work, I swapped one of the other relays with the same code, but that also seems not to do the job.

Any other ideas?

Hi,

Another newcomer to the forum with exactly the same problem on an '04 Vogue which started yesterday, no power to the catch or reversing lights...... did the relay solve your problem or did you find another solution?
