Hey guys, been a long time lurker and reading a lot of helpful posts. Just bought my third Range Rover after selling my others as I decided I fancied a V8 as I always had the TD6.

I have a 2004 4.4 V8 Vogue and well after owning it for one week I have the dreaded air suspension errors. I have firstly Air Suspension Inactive, followed by Self Levelling Inactive and Max 35MPH.

If I’m honest I don’t have a great deal of knowledge when it comes to these complicated beasts and I was hoping for some assistance before my girlfriend murders me for buying another Range Rover that we kind of can’t use

Thanks guys

Nope nothing unfortunately I did call out the RAC and they scanned it and cleared the codes and it came back to life and levelled out.

He suspects it was caused by a low battery voltage as it’s showing 12.03 volts so needs a good run does this sound likely?

He cleared the codes and rescanned and it was showing nothing apart from 160 body control error unknown any ideas?

You need to read live data and see suspension heights to be sure everything is in good order.
A recommendation for a battery if and when is a Hankook mf31-1000. You have to adapt the battery tray to hold the battery but this battery provides a healthy supply to a somewhat hungry vehicle. A good run out will do a world of good. Also if you have aircon leave it on a the time unless the windows are open. Some l322's become indoor wet rooms pretty quickly without aircon

Thanks for that, any idea how this is done guessing it needs to go to a specialist?

Thanks for heads up I will do that

What @Mark Piercy said. Also as this is your third Range Range Rover, and your a 'long time lurker', maybe it's time you bought diagnostics, or made friends with someone who has them. Every question asked on this forum about electronics/air suspension ( been answered a million times) , starts the same : how's your battery, have you put it on diagnostics. Three vehicles in , this is a lesson to take on board , 3 vehicles ago ;)
The Bosch S5 020, fits your battery tray, and power requirements perfectly. So much so that you have to open bonnet to service height and have a clearance of approx 2mm.
In summary decent battery, and right diagnostics. Then read the thousands of threads , on your issue, whilst you lurk :D

Yeah I should of learnt my lesson from the first p38 I had many moons ago but I’m not very mechanically minded and I usually end up making things worse trying to fix things myself haha.

Are they expensive to purchase? Maybe I need to make friends with someone with one as you say haha. I’m hoping to make a few online friends on here to as no one I know even likes Range Rovers as they say their unreliable but most cars have their faults and I stick by them as when they do work there a lovely drive

You all drive a petrol or diesel? This is my first petrol and I must say as to be expected it’s a very thirsty beast.

I loved my p38 but it was a 4.6 so again was a drinker but I got rid in the end as the head gasket failed so wasn’t economical for me to repair sadly.

It's sad when that decision comes to a head but first you have to justify owning it for all your reasons.
Ours off-roads lightly and pulls cars around the garage parking if and when needed. So it's justified in my eyes. I also do the work on it which is a big deal breaker.
It's also helps as our lass loves the old girl as well. :)

Haha sounds great especially when you have the knowledge to do you’re own work as that saves a fortune in the long run.

Yes it was a shame on the plus side it went to a home mechanic and he was putting it back on the road so it wasn’t scrapped
