I've been looking at getting a replacement clutch kit for my L Series, All the kits for the L Series appear to be also for the K Series. Are they the same? I'm confused because I'd have thought the diesel would require a larger one than the petrol. Looking at Rimmers they list a similar combined kit, but they also list the following for plates...

It appears therefore that the clutches for K & L were different but have been replaced by a 'one size fits all' part. Looking at the parts, it also appears that the new part is exactly the same as the original K Series one - so is any replacement I get going to be weaker than my (what I presume is) original?

@Joe_H was on about this the other day in one of his long rambles:rolleyes:
And yes, from what I could ascertain, they're now one and the same.
I'm sure when Joe sees this he'll give a definitive answer. In a round about sort of way, dependent on how many beers have been consumed:)

In answer to your ramble John Smith :D Indeed they are.....

They standardised both fairly early on to the TCie spec - I believe only a few early engine numbers (K) had 225 mm diameter driven plate and the tcie had 228mm
Now they are all 228 and the same part number for the larger tcie. the cover plate is also the same now.
I always liked Borg & beck but am amazed that craddock sell a complete kit for about 78 quid - I cannot believe it - at that price !.
I actually went for the genuine part because of the serious judder I had, however, rimmer sell an OEM part at 112 quid - I would be tempted to ask them what make it is and if good known make possibly go for that. I cannot though, see Craddock selling crap or copies and that B&B price is amazing !. - Hence if I was doing it again I would go for the Craddock B&B. We used to use B&B all the time in the Rally cars.
Possibly even Email B&B in the UK and check out main distributors etc for prices.

Hmm, done some checking and seems to be the right price. !. well begger me... I would go for that. (seems to be an OEM part as well which I can well believe) - I feel cheated now on the 'genuine' :( ....

Thanks for the info :)

We put a B&B in my son's Tomcat and it was a decent clutch, so would be happy to use them!
