P38A KPH to MPH

Hi guys
Probably a problem already aired but I cant find a mention. I have bought a lovely Japanese 4.6 HSE import.
I could live with this but it would be nice to change the speedometer to an MPH and to change over(KPH to MPH) on the distance(ometer?).
Are there any thoughts or remedies out there?

nanocom does this if i recall, i dont think you can change through the dash buttons

What is the dominant speedo numbers?
As If you change the instrument pack be very careful you could end up adding a bunch of mileage.

I wonder if you could just change the faces? Got a pic of yours.
As for actually showing mile in you display it’s probably a setting in the BECM. But I could be totally wrong and it could all be done in the ip.

It can be changed in the BECM but you have to change either the speedo or the whole instrument cluster for one in MPH. As Marjon said, be careful, if you source an instrument cluster it needs to have a lower mileage reading than your car's cluster or the BECM will update to the higher mileage.

I've got a feeling someone on here changed from km to miles and it showed the same number but the just units changed so it looked like it had done 3/8 more miles than it really had.

That is probably true, there is no facility to recalculate as far as I know.

Personally I would live with it. Not much of faff to mentally convert the various speed limit readings.

Thanks all . I had read that if a new cluster goes in then the higher mileage will be shown so maybe best left as Noresman suggests.

You could always attached a pedometer to the front of the car and record the reading of dial.

Not quite true, it can be reset to zero. I have not tried it, but I believe it can be switched from Kilometres to Miles but the figure will stay the same so the mileage will appear higher.

Cannot change the mileage with Nanocom, only Faultmate.

Good to know as I thought the Faultmate was specifically for newer model Land Rovers post 2004.

You cannot change the mileage with Faultmate either except perhaps with the 035 module, but it seems it can be reset to zero in the BECM without either. After the reset to zero, the BECM will take on the mileage from the instrument cluster.

Fautmate covers many vehicles and years depending on which firmware modules you buy.

OK If anyone is interested in this thread, the only way to go completely from Kilometres to Miles is by buying a similar age MPH binnacle ( Mine is a Thor 4.6 so YAC114240)
and contact Richard at https://callrova.com/range-rover-p38/ . He will require this new binnacle, your BECM and ECU. Tell him what mileage you want according to last MOT and he does the rest. Great service.It is a next day service except mine wasn't. The binnacle I bought wasn't checked and was buggered so had to get another one. The moral-check it is working on your own car(doesn't matter about readings-just that it all works) before sending off.
End result is that all is in 'English' and now not bothered with speed cameras.
Removing the BECM is a pain but worth it.

A speedo that doesn't show mph won't pass the mot. Lad at work bought a car in Dublin, drove it up here, re-registered and tried to mot it. Failed cos the speedo was just in kph.

UK manual doesn't give it one way or the other, but as you say it's clearly stated as a Major in the NI one.

My Jap import Isuzu had the speedo in kph, it wasn't a fail in 2007, dunno about now, I never had a problem with kph,
just treated the readings as follows,
kph=mph
50=30ish
60=40ish
80=50ish
100=60ish
120=70ish
near enough but within the 10%.

It's not a fail in England, or at least it didn't use to be
