Hi everyone. We have just become owners of a 2001 Freelander, and so far have been delighted with it. We have previously had Vauxhall Fronteras x 2, and a Lada Cossack. My husband also had a Landrover Series 3 for about 25 which he used for his work.

The only slight problem we have with the Freelander is the the key fob, which doesn't work. I'm assuming that it's just the battery which is dead, and can be replaced, but does it also have to be programmed, and if so, does anyone know how to programme it.

9I know from having a key fob for a Ford Mondeo that fobs sometimes do have to be re-programmed, as I have done this, and had been directed to a site showing how to do this on a Mondeo forum.

Thank in anticipation owners.

no programming needed just change the battery like this.

take out the old battery then press each button for ten seconds

put new battery in and press the lock button 6 times (at the side of the car) then press the open button and your good to go :)

Well I tried what Freelaner advised....several times....but have been unable to get the fob to work.

Help,any other ideas please?
