I have a spare set of keys for my '98 110 which has a second 2-button fob but this has not been programmed so I can't start the beast with them. How do I get this sorted out? Can the same places that program "normal" keys do it or is it a dealer thing?

Any independent with a Nanocom gizmo can sort that in 30seconds, or a mobile Auto Locksmith.

Dealer will have your trousers down unless he’s a friendly!

Have you tried synchronising it (have a look in the owners handbook). Needs to be done when the fob battery has been replaced.

Yep, tried the synchronising thing even though that's for a programmed fob. Sadly (and not unexpectedly) it didn't work.

Hmm don't fancy a trousers-down experience with a dealer(!!) so I guess I'll be finding someone with a Nanocom wotsit then ...

So, nearly a year gone by already and I still haven't got round to doing this!

Have to say though that the stuff online about using the Nanocom gear suggests it has to be plugged into the car, I presume via the diag port, but the vids I've seen seem to relate to fobs which work the central locking. Mine looks the same but doesn't do the c/locking as there isn't any (!!), it just sets the alarm. I need to make it so it allows the thing to start! Does the nanocom gadget cover that too?
