Kenlowe fans

ive recently noticed that some defenders front grills are more extended than others. i assume this has something to do with fitting a kenlowe fan or somthing of similarity but i am slightly confused. was this only fitted to certain models or is it a optional extra one can add? ive got a 2004 td5 and it does not have this but i saw a 2000 td5 which did?!?

Also does having a kenlowe fan increase performance at all?

any help at all would be greatful!!

The extended front is to allow for the air-con condenser and leccy fan which sits in front of the radiator and the intercooler.

kenlowe fan dont improve performance but some ppl replace the visco fan wi a leccy unit so they can switch them off when they not needed like in winter. Or if you driving in Africa or towing heavy loads you might need both

your supposed to gain a couple of bhp extra by removing the viscous.

but in the real world u aint gonna notice the difference

It's also useful to be able to switch them off when wading, to stop water being sprayed around the engine bay.
