Hi guys, hope you’re all well. My ‘89 110 V8’s chassis dissolved from rust because I drove it on the beach too much so I’m swapping in a new galvanised one and would really appreciate some top tips!

When I took her apart it was just a case of cutting off bolts with a grinder - what’s the best order to put it all back together again? I’ll try to put some photos on so you can see…

Looking nice, Nice size garage you got too.

Not sure what order things go on, But dont put the roof on first:rolleyes:o_O.

Whenever you put a bit on think whats under it first as it maybe easier to do that bit first;).

Have a browse through the projects on ere and it may give clues.

Hi and welcome!

Lots of good rebuild threads on here. The best bet is to take lots of photos and label everything. Lots of new bolts and fixings help, together with copious amounts of copper grease on the same.

If you’ve got the space and means (the telehandler looks just the job… ) you can lift the body off in one go, leaving the rolling chassis with engine and gearbox to come out and get swapped over.

Order i did my 90-
Fitted axles and suspension (don't tighten bolts until you have body on) ,
Engine, gearbox, props,
Fuel tank and fuel pipes, brake lines,
Wiring loom (I didn't run it back through the chassis rail),
Bolted rear tub against the tabs on the rear xmember,
Fit the bulkhead,
Fit sills,
Fit the seat box,
Fit the wings,
Windscreen frame, side panels, roof then the doors and bonnet.
As yours is a 110 you will have extra parts to fit but it's basically the same order.

Don't forget to start a project/build thread, always good to read new builds

Nice one thanks Steve. That’s roughly the order I had in mind…I’m going to try running the wiring loom through the chassis leg so will do that early I think!

When I did my 110 I used my mig welder to shoot wire down the chassis then tied the loom to that to pull it through. Still took some doing though. Can't remember details as it was 20 yrs ago ish. I had loads of issues with the body mainly centred around the bulkhead which was a replacement mint one that I had galved. Lots of lorry ratchet straps pulling things in different directions got me there in the end. I replaced so much stuff on the body for better stuff or new stuff that only the windscreen surround ,roof, bonnet and wings(but new outers on them) were original so it's little wonder I had issues.
 
use an electriians fish or a piece of fence wire with a nut attatched to it push it down from bulkhead area and hook it out with a bent wire at rear tye a piece of string then pull back through attatch loom and pull back through...

Worth considering re- routing your loom - keeping it inside the body if possible .. Depends if you CBA'd.. ;)
Yes, will defo try to keep it inside the chassis leg! Has anyone had a loom from auto sparks? They’re the only ones I can find but they’ve been super unhelpful so far on the phone ☹️
 
Just bought an S2 loom from Craddocks haven't fitted it yet but looks ok apart from some wire colours dont match wiring diagram...
