Well just picked up a 1998 s reg disco 1 300tdi, brought it on fleebay for £575! It's a goldy colour with boost alloys including the spare in silver! It's got 144k on the clock! The interior hasn't aged well at all! It's moted and taxed till August, long term plan is to use it as a donor for a defender project when I can find a reasonably priced one! Drove 70 mile home in it! All was good apart from on a slight incline on the slip road onto the motor way it would rev but wasn't converting it to speed, guessing the clutch slipped?

Slipping clutch. First big job to get you nicely aquainted with the underneath so you can poke any rust and find any leaks!

Also got invoices for £1350 for just 2013!! Timing belts head skimmed and pressure test, front discs and pads, new rear callipers and pads! Lots of little bits and pieces!

Now that's what I call a proper bargain!! Loads of important work done as well.

Clutch kit will cost you approx £100; make sure you change the clutch fork & the bronze bearing as well.

Well done, now give it a full service all oils all filters and you're good to go!!!

Nice looking disco from the picture. Seems a pity to break it .

What does it look like for rust?

Have open the rear doors and look at tops of the wheelarches, also have a good look at the front inner wings, boot floor.

Does it have the dreaded sun roofs?

no sun roofs! nice cold air con? haven't tried the ac yet :p to tight to pay for that **** lol, as for the arches and inner wings, bit of surface rust im debating to tidy up? im debating using it as a run around while i look for a defender, or stick 12 months ticket on it and try resell minus the boost alloys? the interior really lets it down tho, the seats haven't aged well and the previous owner had 2-3 dogs and no dog guard :s if the interior was tidier id definitely keep it as a run around!

Blimey, that's nearly factory fresh :-D

Looks stonking little rust, I have just visited stutab to see his major rrc rebuild to see just what the rot can be like.

Top purchase fella

I'm starting to fall in love with it! Feels like it's too good to be a donor :s if I can get it through an mot may just have to let someone else enjoy it for what it is!

Damn I would be soo happy with that, I spent about 1000 on mine and it was a lot worse than that and didn't have leather or owt like that. As said service, clutch and enjoy. But looking at the height has made me wonder if I needed to buy +2 springs as mine already looks higher than yours and I thought I was standard :-\ but yours may be.

well cleaned all the arches up and the surface rust in the boot floor, got the good old hammerite out and treated the worst of it so itll last till the floor is replaced.... inevitably! i cleaned the wheel arches up, decided to put a new outer arch on the nearside as it made a couple of holes! the outside cleaned up considerably well so i put some hammerite anti rust paint on the top for now, ill sand it and puff a bit of colour on over the next few weeks or so :) overall really pleased!
