As I'm looking to by a Freelander: probably the TD4, and year 2000-2003. I've got my eye on a few on autotrader and fleebay, but.....

Does anyone have a good one for sale or know of one coming up for sale?

Watch those prices carefully, some people are using out of date price guides when selling. my 03 plate Td4 Auto 3 door had 52,000 miles FSH & cost me £4,700 18 months ago & that was from a dealer Village Car Sales who trades through ebay. Some other members got higher mileage cars for well under £3k from other sources at around the same time so don't let anyone rip you off.

Tell me about it. A guy at work chopped in his R reg L series for an 03 TD4 about two months ago at the same independent I bought my Hippo from. Tidy car with about 70K on the clock, until he told me that he'd got 2 grand part ex on the L series and had to stump up another 6 grand......

As ever, the low mileage is not an indication of a sound engine - In an ideal situation I would opt for a high(ish) motorway mileage with a good service history.

To date the going price is around £3.500 for a reasonable deal.
