Hi all, Thought is share with you all that I've just fitted the later tdci defender springs and shocks to my 2004 td5 defender!

Before I did it my defender was all un even and the back end was tired.

During the removal of the old ones I noticed that the shocks were completely shot there was no life or rebound in them whatsoever!

Since fitting the new ones however I have noticed that the ride has improved a million times! I've also got about an extra inch of height on the rear and the landy is level now!

Overall very impressed and could recommend it to anyone else!

I think the ride is slightly better than the td5 equivalents to be honest. It feels firm now when cornering and doesn't shatter your spine over bumps like it used to. The TD5 set up is just as capable by all means though!

The main reason I went for it was cause I got a set of four springs and shocks for £115 all genuine landrover taken off a friends new defender only done delivery miles.

Can't argue at that price and the results are top notch. Just shows though they don't pick up knackered shocks on your MOT only if there showing signs of leaking!

Another bonus to the later springs is that they aren't handed like the td5 ones you just get a pair of rears and a pair of fronts. So you can't get them wrong

He must surely, I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on whether there were any improvements though. Obviously I know they decided to stop handing the springs so they have been re designed. I'm sure there's probably not much in it either way but at the end of the day I got a bargain and I'm happy! My defender station wagon is running lovely

no he has not, maybe a jeep, but no landy,he is in america, there only allowed series there ,in regards to your springs/shocks there all very similar in standard guise your old ones where fooked, new ones have sorted that out my 300 tdi terrafirma shocks and springs would bolt strait onto your td5 or a puma, only difference is when it comes to load rating between a 110 and 90,110 obviously being able to carry more weight

Well that was the whole point of my post to see if people knew of any changes in the design of them. And you are wrong there is quite a significant change in the coil springs they are not left and right handed anymore. I'm sure they probably give the same result but it is still a difference!
