...so I thought I'd post up in here, having hidden mostly in the RR forum (for technical stuff at least!)
'95 V8 3.9 Auto... Bought from a fellow LZ member (cheers Chris!) Drove her 70 miles home today, and she was a delight. Obvious she has had some time and effort spent on her - in many ways she's in better shape than my P38!
Issues I've spotted so far - seems to have a bit of a lumpy idle / partial misfire, that didn't disappear after drying off (seller had given her a good jetwashing, under and over, before I came to view) - will examine leads / plugs / coil / dizzy etc tomorrow. Boot floor has been done at some point but starting to show signs of surface rust again here and there, so will need jumping on before it spreads. Front arches are perforated and need doing, and just a touch of surface rust starting in the rears too, although nowhere near the seat belt mounts. 1 front body mount just starting to show signs of surface rust, so will pounce on that too.
Has no suspension or drivetrain issues at all, and she's a delight to drive. She's going to serve as my off-road toy (P38s are too complicated and expensive to fix every time you break them!) so looking forward to lots of fun with her.
Hats off to Chris (the seller) for a full and frank description of his Disco - he even offered to loan me a screwdriver when I was jabbing around at the rust! But after some of the horror stories I've read about Discos and the dreaded tin worm, etc, it looks like I've got myself a good'un, that with a little work should last me a fair while yet! The seller was even good enough to throw in a good few spares he had lying around the garage!
Plan now is to strip out the carpets and see exactly where she needs attention... Stay tuned for more.
