Hi everyone.
I put this post on the intro page and someone kindly suggested it should come on this page too
Two firsts
1. Land rover owner
2. Forum member
I decided on a whim that I would like a Landy. On an even quicker whim I bought one on eBay, without doing a great deal of research!!
I like it, but it needs a lot of TLC. I had it serviced and all the filters were changed. Apparently it recently had a new cam belt.
Questions:
1. It's still smoking quite a bit, particularly when you give it some welly - the previous owner indicate it had been tuned for off-road (something about a lever under a little cap by the fuel pump, which had been rotated half a turn - my garage was not sure about this ) any ideas to cut down the smoke? The service appears to have helped - I'm just concerned for the next MOT in September (and the cars behind)
2. It has a straight through exhaust which exits through the rear NS wing - any ideas if I can get a silencer fitted? It sounds quite cool, but a bit 'young' for me!! And not sure if it will pass the MOT.
3. one of the headlights has no 'beam spread' and needs replacing - where's the best place to get cheap but reliable spares?
4. It has a non-standard rear axle (apparently a Discovery axle) in order to incorporate rear disks - is this safe?
Tomorrow its going to the garage in an attempt to un-seize the wheel tracking adjustment bolts. Not sure if they'll be able to do it.
Thanks if you got this far
Chris
