Hello! I've just bought a 1993 110 200TDi CSW!

It is a BIT of a mongrel though! But that is sort of what I wanted really.

Brown, front end was blue originally - Water Board vehicle I believe. Back section has always been brown - off an old Safari.

Mileage is a bit on the high side, at 190K+ but head gasket has been done.

I have been over the underside quite carefully - chassis seems solid as a rock. The place I bought it off is a Landy Repairs Garage and he has a darned good reputation.

Upgrade insurance from my Golf GTi is £20 extra, but I'm intending to move to someone like NFU if they are cheaper - open to ideas!

Stuff I need to sort out:

Roof bars - to carry my sea kayak - has anyone got any for sale? I don't think I need a full length rack as I can almost certainly fit all my gear inside.

I'll need to fit a radio. There is a hole for one on the dash. As long as I can find a live wire I should be OK - fitted one into my old mini years ago under similar circumstances, so it shouldn't be too hard.

The roof lining is a bit tired (well, very tired...) - I'm open to ideas about how to clean that.

Picking it up on Saturday!

Long first post.

Sorry.

Will definitely get some pics on Saturday.

Sorry about the roof bars question - before someone screams "use the f***ing search function!" I just have - lots of ideas now.

However, my search for 200TDI 110 servicing turned up bugger all - I'm probably looking in the wrong place.

If not, what are the 'service intervals' for a 190K 200TDI? I used to change the oil in my 405 Turbo Diesel every 3000 miles on the recommendation of a peugeot mechanic mate and it went to over 160K when I still sold it for £400!

Cheers,

Vulch

:welcome2: to loony zone :D

yep as mud hunter sed there good for 300k if looked after well :D

as for your radio side of things if the console is in place(you say theres a slot) then there will be a live wire behind the console somewhere

as for the roof lining do you mean its sagging? its a landy thing :D

usualy good vehicles ex water board as there always serviced etc ;)

oh i change my oil and filter every 3k and air fuel etc every 6-9k ish :D

OK, here are some photos, showing the sliding windows. I reckon the body is mid to late 80s...

Anyone got any better ideas?

Also, I have heat! Coming out of the correct vents! Which is probably a bonus. However, the heat control lever to the right of the steering wheel seems to be jammed. Should I be pushing it sideways or something before moving it up?

There are also some wires going into the rear door from the offside side of the vehicle. Seems to be 4 wires involved, but the only thing I can see on the back door is the demister. Four wires for that?

All input gratefully received!

Cheers,

Vulch

Oh, cool - sorry, just thought that it might have been one of those head in hands "What has he done" moments.

If anyone does have any idea which year the body COULD be, that would be really helpful, as it could be useful when ordering parts etc etc.

Cheers,

Vulch

PS I've already done a quick(ish) fix on it - drivers door wouldn't lock - seems the locking clip was too far from the bar on the door frame. Took the door lock assembly off and whacked in a couple of washers and it was sorted.

That would probably have been 20 quid on my golf:)

Ah. I have just found this thread again! I thought I would post an update photo for what its worth.

Cheers,
