I've not yet really had the opportunity to be 100% sure 4wd works.
The low series gears all engage and work fine. Selecting 4wd in high range via shoving down the yellow leaver also 'seems' to work fine.

Having searched and read a few threads, I should experience wheel wobble when on hard lock in 4wd on dry tarmac. The thing is, I cannot replicate this as I believe I should. Perhaps it's the less than grippy Goodyear G90's slipping readily on tarmac prevent this sensation?

Now the only slightly different sensation I can get when I believe i'm in 4wd is when I completely let go of the steering wheel whilst coming out of a hard lock turn - the steering wheel straightens itself but in a more jerky fashion - like in stages. In 2wd mode it straightens itself very smoothly when let go of the wheel coming out of a hard turn. Does it sound like i'm in 4wd ok? I'd rather avoid jacking her up and trying to spin wheels etc to prove the point to myself!

Daft but it's one of those stupid things that's niggled me since I got her 4 weeks ago! Just need to make sure I haven't bought a wonky donkey.

If you dont want to jack her up, are you sure you are the right kind of person to have a Landy, let alone a bloody series:eek:

stop fannying about and get it up in the air, really if this is too much for you, maybe a slitty would be better:doh:

Oh yeah:welcome2:

Laziness is an acceptable excuse. The lumpiness when steering will be the UJ cogging round under drive so it sounds like it's working. I've rarely noticed any serious effect when in 4wd on tarmac but then I rarely do it 'cos it's bad for the transmission. For advice on when you can engage and disengage hi/lo box and 4wd (moving/stationary etc.) see the sticky about what all the levers are for.
