Owned 2002 Range Rover Vogue for 12 years. Cooling system probs. Blown three expansion tanks. Had hydrocarbon test which was negative. So going back to basics, replacing expansion tank and thermostat. Need to know how to bleed the cooling system when replacing expansion tank. Need to know how to fit new thermostat (electronic). Last but not least, where can I get a workshop manual for my Vogue? Thank you.

there should be links to RAVE in the stickies.. it has the complete workshop manual in electronic format

Well if it helps I do know that and have known for a while now.

I cant remember if I did, but I may have written a how to in the tech archive for thermostat change out.

RAVE will cover the L322

And the expansion tanks are a well known and common fail item due to the crap plastic they used. It is also well known on the E53 X's and the E38 7'ers for split expansion tanks.

Just looked and I didnt write one which is most odd......anyhow it is dead simple.

Remove acoustic cover
Remove intake pipe
Remove viscous unit and fan (not 100% necessary but makes it easier)
Unclip the coolant hose to the stat
Remove the electrical connection
Undo the four mounting bolts
Remove stat

Woah steady on Ant, have a bit of consideration to those drinking from a grown up cup, with handles and a cork holder and everything........

Half the members here get fed their drinks by a nurse specialising in older care and long term conditions (like Range Rover ownership syndrome). Now, where did I put my sippy-cup of special brew?

Odd, the Jag expansion tanks around that age were also famous for cracking. Coincidence? I think not.
