Jatco Auto box - Switch for Sport Mode

Hi, Can anyone tell me where the switch is for the sport mode selector?

Is it on the gear shaft or in the box?

Mine has started to flicker between 'N' and 'Sport' when waiting at lights and guess it is a dirty switch??

From memory...

It doesn't have a sport sensor. What is does have is sensors on 4, D and N. When it's in D and the D sensor senses the lever moves out of D, and sensors 4 and N say the lever hasn't moved to their positions, it assumes the lever has been moved to the right, away from the D sensor into sport mode.

Sport should only be accessable from D. If it's reading N to sport and back... this would make me think the lever position isn't correct. This is adjusted by undoing the lever bolt at the end of the cable under the auto, and moving the cable one way or the other a bit. Mark the cable metal end bit before you do this so you can put it back to where it was if you don't get it right first time.

Could be the sensors around the lever themselves but most who have this probelm have found like I did that it was the lever position that needed corrected.

sorry to ask but saw this pic , care of hippo there is a small round motor on the bottom as u look at the picture ,mw its a black wire coming out of it

if I put my foot on the brake it will click. is that so u can't start it in gear , neutral switch ???

my sport mode wasnt working at all...4 and F flashing on display.
you select park then undo the nut on the gearbox end that secures the cable,then pull the end of the cable through as far as it will go...dont force it....then tighten the locknut. move through the gears then check it goes into park correctly...if not you have gone a bit too far.
cured mine it works perfecly now.

If you use the photo link to re-display the photo it will show up on ere, and get replaced/updated if I take better pic's and swop them with for the same file.

The motor thing is the solenoid which is used to lock the lever in the park position. Switching on the ignition electrics and putting yer foot on the brake will release it if I remember correctly.

The click you feel when yer turn the ignition is the cable which comes into the pic from the left, in a black sheid with orange tape round it. It controls the finger thing to the right of the cable. The finger thing has a hook at the end. When you turn the ignition key the switch on the rear also turns the plastic thing in the pic below. The plastic moves as the key turns and controls the position of the spring loaded pin which controls the cable which travels down to the finger thing next to the auto lever. It's the finger you feel click into position.

If you turn the ignition with the switch taken oft the end the plastic bit in the middle will fly oft.
