Had a much modified (for trials) 90, drowned it and been without for too many years.

Can't afford Defenders now, wish I'd kept my 90, even engine less and rusted to hell it would have been worth more than I put into it! I'm an off-road oriented person, so looking at Disco I or II as a 'true' off-roader and they also fall into the money category I can afford (as long as nothing expensive needs fixing). Found a reasonable DII Td5 auto, but it has a fault that I want to understand before buying.

I use to compete in Comp Safaris many years ago and got to appreciate auto's off-road, hence looking for an auto this time around. I've got a few non-running Suzuki's in the garden, they were used to trial in, but I haven't touched them in about 15 years and nature is making them slowly disappear (there use to be sills and door hinges, but no more!)

Hi and welcome!

I used to be in an off road club where members trialled Suzukis and the like. Very capable little trucks.

Good luck with the disco. Let us know how you get on with it.

D1 is ok ish for off roadbit long on the arse end, D2 has way to long a rear overhang.
Lots of recent posts in the disco section recently, all about D2 auto box issues.
