Hello, on a long road trip yesterday I noticed a sound like a small dog barking (or a bird chirp) coming from under the Landy just about where the front seats are.

It happened on the overrun down hills with foot off of the accelerator.

Got underneath this morning and noticed I can twist the rear propshaft and the front of it (the thin bit) stays still but the rear can twist very slightly in both directions.

Is this a replacement jobby?

Many thanks.

Many thanks Tottot & Blackburn, I did wonder if the sliding joint is done for. It does have a lot of movement and under hard acceleration it sound like the engine is blowing somewhere (which it ain't).

So next question is - who makes the best replacement prop shaft?

I bought two Hardy Spicers last year (front and back). Seem good quality and a known decent make. Trying to remember where I bought them from now...they were more expensive than Britpart but not a daft price either.

I think it's the sliding joint that's gone. Thee UJs look fine (paradoxically). So unfortunately it's a new PS.

i have hardy spicers on my Series 2 a and i just assumed they were originals, but maybe an aftermarket set the previous owner or should i say the owner before the previous owner, as i have had it for 12 years now.
