Looking for some urgent advise

I stumbled across a little gem today I think but not sure what it's worth and don't want to go paying what the chap is asking if it's not worth it.

It's a series 2 lwb station wagon on an A reg not original though as he sold it but this one is age related which makes it a 1962/3 build he says, is that to early for one of these?

It's very straight but bulkhead is completely rotten to the point where the footwells are none existent and the chassis is shot. Not been moved for 12 years but is completely original and complete, seats are all elephant hide and really good condition for the age and even the doors and roof are lined with the elephant hide.

The chap is asking £1500 in its current state!!!!
Is it worth it and what are they worth full restored any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

James

I would think £500 tops. You could throw £3000 or more at a chassis/bulkhead /brakes and still have a knackered engine/gearbox.

+1 plenty of fully working landies going for that money.

if it was an s1 wagon you would probably have to pay that but I don't think s2's have reached that height yet.

its easy to underestimate the full cost of a barn resto and they only really work if you can do all the work yourself, doing a rolling resto is a much better prospect, look how many unfinished projects crop up on ebay.

Thank you everyone my thoughts were right just when you really like the look of something your heart over rules your head

Think I will have to let this one go

+1 in the restoration, as soon as you start one thing leads to another and next thing you know your down to the chassis. Don't get me wrong a restoration is hugely rewarding and you know it's all there because you did it. But go into it with both eyes open set aside at least £2k and around 8 months.
