IRD oil leak?

Hi,

I put my car up on some ramps today because the silly plastic sump protector had unfastened itself. I noticed that the IRD looks rather oily. Is this normal or is likely to be leaking?

I had my clutch changed not long ago, so maybe he spilt oil around that area?

There was also oil on the sump protector.

Any ideas?

Hi RichM,

Most likely to be a bit of residue from when it was drained.

Mind you, I wouldn't have thought that you'd find it on the undertray, also.

May be worth checking that he used a new sealing washer whe he refilled the IRD. If not, I'd order yourself one (and a filler plug washer) and drain and refill.
