IRD Knackered?

Hi,
My 02 Freelander TD4 has just thrown gearbox(?) oil all over the road and when driven, thumps/bangs rhythmically (and feels very nasty)

Previous to this, I experienced occasional banging (sounded like CV joints) on full lock (both directions) and even less occasionally, fast banging when going straight.

Has anyone got any ideas whether or not the IRD has broken or worse?

I am not really sure what to expect when the garage phones tomorrow but would like to be mentally prepared for the heart attack!

It's what I tell the missus but so far......!

not sure entirley on the setup with my landie but my previous car had a similar problem knocking on full steering lock, turned out to be knackered bushes on the front suspension lower arms, i replaced these on both sides at 70 quid a piece. apparently my local garage said slow down at speed bumps

may or may not be helpful, good luck with it anyway

I'll bear it in mind when the garage phones - they may have contributed to the problem.
