Hi, just got my second Freelander 1 ( though first proper as last didn't have the diff).
Picked up a mint L series diesel (78K, VCU replaced recently) but it's the Di not XeDi so doesn't have HDC/ TC.
Is it possible/ worth the effort to retrofit? I've bought it to do some green laning so will do the 40mm lift/ de-cat/egr / chunky wheels and possibly a Synergy4B.

Probably be easier and cheaper to get a FL1 with HDC, TC etc already fitted. You will need all the abs sensors etc fitted for a start. Also the wiring to them and the ABS unit connected up and the electronics sorted out. TC is helpful oft road as it's stops wheels from spinning which allows power to be sent to the wheels with grip. Not something I would want to be without when oft road. It will still go oft road but won't be as good as a FL1 with TC.

Cheers Hippo,
I would just get another one but this is the cleanest L series I could find, only 78K and service history so I'm tempted to do it ( just wary of openenig too big a can of worms).
Thanks for the feed back on how much difference it'll make- I was thinking it probably played a pretty large part of the Hippo's usefullness off road.
I've started a new thread in the freelander area and started to have a nose at what needs doing so I'll post there whether it's viable.

That's the right place to post for help. We'll see what we can do. It ideally needs a none TC L series owner to compare whats missing to one with TC. Then we can work out what can be done to upgrade.
