Hi. I have a Freelander 2 td4 auto and it has started to lose power intermittently which I can correct by stopping the engine and restarting. This can happen a number of times during a journey. I have changed the mass airflow sensor which had shown as a fault but it had not cured the fault. If someone could give me some advice I would be most grateful. Thank you

Hi Sammo.
What year is your FL2 mileage, do you have any kind of smoke, have you checked all the hoses, the reason for the mileage is after about 75,000 sometimes the crankshaft sensor can play up or it's wiring, how old is your battery, and whn was the fuel filter last changed, if it was changed in the last 12 months was it a genuine purflex one.

If the MAF has been swapped, you'll need to carry out an air path calibration.

Common running issues are caused by the crank sensor, or turbo actuator sticking. The fact it runs ok after a restart suggests it's likely a turbo issue.

Hi Arctic and Nodge. Thank you for your replies. I have tried fitting a new crankshaft sensor today from euro car parts and it wouldn’t start until I put the old one back on! It is a star line part. I don’t know how to calibrate the air path so that hadn’t been done. The car is an 07 with 109000 miles on it. The battery is less than 12 months old. I’m not sure about when the fuel filter was last changed. Is it easy to change the turbo actuator or is there some way I can test it? Thanks again for your help.

Take the crankshaft sensor back to UCP they sell crap basically, this is the crank sensor you need below, but it may not be that but it's always best to have a spare i carry one in my car.
